MANDO’A NOTES

So a couple people were asking to see my Mando’a language notes, so here we go. It’s pretty much the exact same stuff that you can find on the Wookie Legends page, but I don’t know if other people have the same issues I do with Wookiepedia? (Makes my computer crash like nobodies business).

Anyway, hope there are helpful.

@nautolanshenanigans , @shadow-spires I think you guys were interested in seeing these?

A bunch of you are into Mando’a, so here you go!

If anyone’s writing a Star Wars fic and wants to know the other species in the galaxy to populate the background of your fic, THIS is a good visual guide to use. It’s one long, alphabetized list with a picture of each species and where they’re seen in the movies or other EU material.

It does NOT include any other details or history about the species, so for more in-depth information, Wookiepedia is still your best bet. I use that as well, but since I only wanted a quick glance at what the many sentients look like and where they’re from, this list was more helpful than opening 12 new tabs.

@vadianna this seems like something you should know about.

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

This is HOLY COW incredibly useful. The information is slightly out-of-date, and doesn’t seem to include the stuff from Rebels or TCW (has no Lasat, and no Togruta), but it’s a great reference regardless.

Tagging @writebetterstarwars, and I suppose @pep-no as well; trying to think of people who would want to see this, that don’t follow me.

Reblogging for anyone who needs this!

Vocab List is Up!

For those who don’t know, I’ve been working on a list of star wars vocabulary to be used as reference. It’s finally ready to go, and you can find it here.

It’s also linked in my navigation tab, and in my bio (for those on mobile). Use it whenever you want, and don’t be afraid to suggest that something be added. Thanks to everyone who has already either suggested stuff or sent in asks about terminology! I hope you all find this useful.

Good luck to everybody with their writing!

Star Wars – The Unknown Regions (2010)

Interesting notes:   While no longer canon

(as of April 25, 2014), this RPG supplement guide can be useful for helping to provide more background for this area of space.  Currently, the only planets we know of that are canon for this region are Rakata Prime and Ilum, but it’s also where the ice planet used for Starkiller Base was from.

Potentially useful for:   If you want some neighboring planets for the First Order to interact with, these might be of use!

writebettertrek:

There are too many languages in Trek for me to even make a funny header out of them, hah.

My name is Garak, and I’ve been inspired by a lot of writing advice blogs lately, so! I have decided to open a Star Trek-specific writing resource blog. I’ve seen nearly the entire series, have a near-encylopedic knowledge of thirty out of fifty years of Trek, and am currently attempting to learn Klingon (as well as Romulan, if I can find some resources). Do you need to know just how fast the Enterprise can actually go? The difference between each incarnation of the Enterprise? What about the difference between all 4 Andorian genders?

If you have any questions, the ask box is open! This blog will be almost entirely ask-driven, unless specific masterposts are requested or deemed necessary.
