So I remember Han saying that calculating the jump to lightspeed was difficult because you could end up somewhere dangerous. When Snoke’s ship jumps to lightspeed, is that ship in charge of doing the calcs for the rest of the ships that might be with them since it’s way bigger?

*minor spoilers sorta*

I expect that, since the Supremacy was the ship with the hyperspace tracker equipped, its navicomputer would perform the calculations and then transmit the them (or just the destination, and allow the others to calculate a route) to the other ships. Its size shouldn’t really make a difference, no ship would exit hyperspace close enough to a celestial body that a bigger ship following the same route could hit it. If the navicomputer and hyperdrive are both in working order, a hyperspace jump is usually relatively safe.

Do you think it’s better to research a planet or just make a new one up? I’m trying to find one that is human-inhabited but that might be in the midst of a civil war because of loyalty to the First Order/Empire nostalgia. Perhaps a mining community or one important in trade and supplies?

I personally prefer to pick an existing planet when possible, partially because I like to stick to canon and partially because I’m too lazy to make one up, but I wouldn’t say one is better than the other. There isn’t a whole lot of information available about the politics and astrography of the First Order, and I’m afraid I don’t know of any such planet, so you may want to just make this one up.

How does the Resistance get money? Are there wealthy donors? Does donating to them put the donors at risk if there’s a “money trail?”

Because the Resistance is a splinter group of the New Republic military, its main sponsor is the New Republic itself. But since they are so low on supplies and equipment, and since they do not see eye-to-eye with the New Republic on the issue of whether to take the First Order threat seriously, I think it’s reasonable to assume that they also need some sort of alternative income. For example, a high priority for the Resistance is getting medical supplies. This would be relatively easy to get using a donor’s money, compared to a capital ship or a squadron of fighters, which would be provided by the New Republic. Not a whole lot is known about how the Resistance operates at the moment, at least not compared to the Rebellion, for instance, so I would say that all that stuff is open to interpretation for now.

Hope that helps!

Do we have any concrete or educated guesses to how many star destroyers there are in the First Order’s navy circa the events of the Last Jedi? (and confession time. It’s not for a fic. My kiddo is curious. Thanks!)

According to Wookieepedia, the First Order has at least 33 Star Destroyers (including at least one Imperial-class) and at least 30 Resurgent-class Star Desroyers, as well as at least 2 Star Dreadnoughts (one was destroyed in TLJ). It’s a bit unclear to me whether those 30 Resurgent-class Star Destroyers are meant to be counted as part of the 33 Star Destroyers, but given that the old Imperial Navy included around 25,000 Imperial-class Star Destroyers I would guess not, making a total of at least 63 Star Destroyers, plus the Dreadnoughts.
